56 alumni-brothers of the Kappa Delta Rho (KDR) fraternity returned to The Haven from June 2-3, generating $7,400 for the Kappa Delta Rho Alpha-Alpha Scholarship during their KDR Alumni Weekend.

The event, attended by alumni who graduated as recently as 2023 to as far back as 1969, serves as a fun-filled, annual reunion.  Along with a full slate of on- and off-campus festivities, the brothers also use the gathering as an opportunity to hold various fundraising activities in support of the KDR scholarship.

Since 2021, the scholarship has been awarded to a Lock Haven KDR Alpha-Alpha Brother three times. with students Nolin Damino, Patrick Kiernan and last year’s recipient, Nick Pham, each receiving $1,500.

The first KDR Alumni Weekend occurred in 2019 with the group generating about $7,500 for the scholarship. Event restrictions due to COVID prevented the brothers from reuniting on campus in 2020 and 2021, but they were still able to grow the scholarship during that time.

Upon their return in 2022, their efforts generated more than $9,300. With the money raised this year, the brothers have contributed more than $24,000 to support the academic and professional goals of KDR brothers at The Haven.

“I’d like to express my sincere appreciation each alumnus who came ‘Home to The Haven’ in celebration of more than six decades of Kappa Delta Rho on Lock Haven’s campus,” said Ashley Koser, LHU Foundation executive director. “These gentlemen are a wonderful example of proud Bald Eagles.”

“Their efforts to pay it forward year after year in support of the next generation of Lock Haven KDR brothers truly epitomizes what being a member of The Haven Family is all about,” she added.

This year’s reunion and fundraiser was organized by a committee of seven alumni brothers, including Gregg Kitchen ’71 (committee chairperson), Dan Cruttenden ’73 (Lock Haven University Alumni Association past president), Lenny Long ’75 (Lock Haven professor emeritus), Larry Underkoffler ’69, Lou Chillemi ’71, Mike Iannetta ’76, and Ryan Schessler ‘21.
