From a young athlete whose football dreams were dashed to a record-breaking wrestler at Lock Haven State College, Jim’s journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative power of wrestling in the one and only, Mat-Town, USA.
Now, Jim and his wife, Ann Marie, are excited to provide support for the next generation of Bald Eagle wrestlers to experience their own life-changing journeys, after recently making a transformative six-figure gift to The Rise campaign—an ambitious $3.5 million fundraising effort to endow Lock Haven’s world-renowned collegiate wrestling program.
Dr. Cathy Rush and the late Dr. Steven Rush ‘74 are names synonymous with the field of education at Commonwealth University (CU)-Lock Haven. With over three decades of combined teaching and mentorship as faculty in Lock Haven’s education department, the Rushes have profoundly impacted thousands of students. Now, through a major gift to the Lock Haven University Foundation (LHUF), their joint legacy of inspiring educational leaders will live on, providing future Bald Eagles with meaningful support to pursue their dreams of becoming the best teachers they can be.
In a touching celebration on Sunday, Oct. 27, more than 20 alumni and guests honored the legacy of former men’s soccer player Michael Bobby ’83. The event, held in Thomas Fieldhouse, marked the official naming of the head men’s soccer coach’s office in Bobby’s name—the first such office naming in Lock Haven Athletics history.
With overwhelming support from alumni, friends, and key stakeholders, the Lock Haven University Foundation (LHUF) is excited to announce more than $3.82 million in new donor-designated gifts and pledges to empower Commonwealth University (CU)-Lock Haven students were secured during the 2023-24 fiscal year that concluded on June 30. This was the third-largest giving year in the LHUF’s 57-year history.
More than 30 brothers of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity that attended Lock Haven State College (LHSC) in the 1970s returned to Commonwealth University-Lock Haven for their 33rd consecutive LHSC TKE alumni annual reunion from August 6-9. During that time, the brothers raised more than $10,200 for the Tau Kappa Epsilon Alumni Scholarship and the TKE "Friends of Finken" Fund.
